Case Study: Rainwater System Maintenance at Primark DC, Lutterworth

Project Overview

Date: 27th November 2024

Scope of Work
Smart Rainwater Ltd was engaged to conduct essential maintenance and improvements to the above ground rainwater systems at the Magna Park facility. The scope included replacing primary outlets, clearing blockages, replace and securing damaged and existing components and testing the efficiency of the primary downpipes.
This project aimed to ensure optimal functionality of the ground existing above rainwater systems and prevent future operational challenges.

Tasks Undertaken
Primary Outlet Replacement
All primary outlets were replaced with durable CL75 stainless steel bowls to enhance long-term reliability.
Blockage clearance
Obstructions at outlet entry points were removed to restore full system functionality.
Siphonic system repairs
Loose or damaged drop rods were identified and replaced to secure system stability.
Performance Testing
An air test was performed on all primary downpipes to verify system integrity.

Client Benefits
Enhanced System Performance: The replacement of primary outlets and removal of blockages ensures the system operates efficiently during the design specification level of rainfall.
Reduced Future Costs: Proactive maintenance and the installation of recommended features will prevent costly repairs or system failures.
Improved Longevity: Upgraded components like CL75 stainless steel bowls provide durability and resistance to wear and tear.

Conclusion
The project delivered a fully functional and reliable rainwater system to the original design specification, addressing existing issues and laying the groundwork for continued performance with recommended maintenance routines. Smart Rainwater Ltd is available to assist with future maintenance and implementation of additional recommendations.
